The history of the now-called Us Three is tough to tell because of its convoluted inspirations and lost roots. The first character, Luke, was born about 2008. Needless to say, this Luke character is myself.
I live in the great state of Texas, living, praying, and working, a developing Catholic man. Among my hobbies are jazz, altar serving, piano, programming, chemistry, writing, reading, drawing, (duh) Lego construction, and abstract math.
I wanted to describe myself at a young age. I drew maps and various pictures based on my interests (giant Duck Life 4 map, anyone?). This set the ground for when I first saw Garfield in late 2017: my first contact with formal comics. I immediately made my own adventure-comic in one of my art journals. Originally titled Draw: Comic!: The Cake: The Cake (how creative), the five-panel strip depicted a birthday party with two cake thieves.

The strip developed under various names as I encountered more comic strips, though Garfield retains the crown. Eventually, I set myself to drawing a real comic strip, newspaper style. I kept the most descriptive for the series: Us Three, from the three characters in the strip. The strip became a sort of experiment with the fourth wall: the characters in Us Three would be young people trying to make it as a comic strip, and going through shenanigans as they struggled living with each other.
In the meantime, I was getting older and contacting other sources of information. I began to devour science miscellaneous books and programming websites. Through one, cemetech.net, I found the webcomic xkcd, and immediately became a fan. Randall Munroe’s love for the world and its oddness stuck with me, and I thought, Man, I wish he was Catholic.
The result was inevitable. I had a website, comic strip ideas, and a knowledge of science, theology, and art. I also had a horrible skill in drawing. Hence, Us Three became devoted to what I called Chestertonian Acutis-ism, a humorous, God-loving, commonsensical look at the modern world, especially science, tech, and theology. And here we are now.
I hope you enjoy Us Three as much as I do, and may it enrich your life!
